An Introduction

This is our routine. We built our product line around it and we believe it works wonders. It's not the end-all-be-all of routines and it's not a miracle combination that'll solve every problem, but it is a rock-solid routine. And it's a good place to start, if you're new to this whole discipline.

First, let's clear up some facts about the skin: 1) The skin is the body's largest organ. 2) And, like everything on our body, it will age due to intrinsic and extrinsic effects. Chronological aging and daily exposure to UV light (photoaging), air pollution, and the detritus of the natural elements results in changes to the epidermis and the extracellular matrix (EMC) of the dermis. In other words: your skin will age. It just happens. 3) And to top it off, as we grow older our skin's natural rejuvenation and repair mechanisms slow.

So now for the good news. If you follow a daily skincare routine like the one below and use efficacious products like ours, you can have a long-term impact on the quality of your skin. Our routine and products will help maintain your skin health and slow the effects of aging. It works. It's just up to you to invest in yourself and follow your routine.

Morning:

The Details

Cleanser: Morning, Evening and Post-Sweat

Healthy skin maintains a pH around 5.5, slightly acidic. Most bar soaps land between a pH of 7 to 9, more alkaline than your skin's natural levels. A cleanser — a wash designed to clean your skin — is more acidic (ours runs a pH of 5.3) to match your skin’s desired pH. Proper cleansing helps clear pollution, grit and other impurities that land on your skin throughout the day or night.

Our Cleanser can be used morning and evening and anytime your sweat. We leave the cleanser in the shower — then grab it when needed at the sink. Wet your skin with warm water, apply a nickel-size amount of cleanser to your fingertips, gently massage on your skin, then rinse with warm water. Dry with a soft towel. Follow with moisturizer or recovery cream.

Moisturizer: Morning, Evening and Post-Cleanse

Moisturizers are as described: they hydrate skin by preventing water loss to keep skin happy, healthy and moist. Retaining moisture can be difficult when encountering the natural elements — cold air, dry air, wind, sweat — and the skin’s ability to keep hydrated naturally slows as we age. A good moisturizer helps skin stay balanced and feeds cells valuable nutrients.

Our Moisturizer, when applied in the morning, helps keep your skin hydrated and healthy throughout the day. It's a lightweight lotion that supplies liposomes to the skin to maintain balanced oil and water levels. To use properly, apply after cleansing. Pump a nickel-size amount on your fingers and apply to your skin, including around the eyes and eyelids. Let air dry.

Recovery Cream: Evening and Post-Cleanse

Our Recovery Cream helps your skin repair overnight. When you sleep, your skin relaxes and the pores open. And you lose a lot of moisture. Our cream has a rich, thick texture and it helps the skin stay hydrated overnight and naturally increase its own lipid production. To use properly, apply after cleansing. Get a nickel-size amount on your fingers and apply to your face, including around the eyes. Let air dry.

You can use our moisturizer at night or our recovery cream during the day. In winter, the recovery cream offers great moisture support. And in some seasons, the lighter moisturizer used morning and night may be enough to keep your skin balanced.

SPF: Daily and Frequently

Sunscreen is the most vital aspect of slowing aging and preventing the formation of certain skin cancers. For your face, ears and hands — don’t forget the hands — you want a broad spectrum SPF with protection of at least 30. We like SuperGoop Everyday Sunscreen. But many others are good. Just ensure it's a minimum of 30 SPF and has broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.

Apply this last in your routine, and be sure to re-apply throughout the day, especially if you’re outside. To use, apply a nickel-size amount to your fingers and apply to the face, ears and hands (and any other exposed skin). And there's no need to use an SPF at night — in fact, it’s better for your skin to not.

Scrub: Up to 3x a Week

Skin is like grass. It grows from the bottom up — so skin at the surface is at the end of its lifecycle. Exfoliation helps clear out old skin cells and also sends a message to the base to begin new growth. You can clear out older skin cells a few times a week. Skin cycles slow as you age, so the older you are the more your skin will benefit from frequent exfoliating.

Our Scrub has a natural polishing texture. The key in application is to trust the formula and apply gently. Use a nickel-size amount and rub gently over moist skin. Then rinse with warm water and dry with a soft towel.

Mask: Up to 3x a Week

A mask offers a higher concentration of nutrients and detoxifiers to give skin extra restoration. We use it after shaving to nourish and hydrate the skin. Our mask can be used anytime and anywhere, so feel free to target areas like the nose or forehead — or the whole face.

Our Mask draws out impurities and environmental toxins while also conditioning and nourishing the skin with vitamins and minerals. To apply, spread an even layer over cleansed, moist skin. Then leave the mask on for a few minutes, up to fifteen. Then remove with warm water and dry with a soft towel. Follow with Moisturizer or Recovery Cream.
